The Femme Patale is a seductively curvaeous paddle with an 11” blade for showcasing our favorite wood, Black Walnut. We love it for its unique swirls and rich, contrasting colors. To top it all off, Black Walnut polishes up to a brilliant shine under our extensive sanding process, making this beautiful wood even more breathtaking.
Perfect Thud
Not the densest wood in the woodshop, black walnut falls right into the Goldilocks Zone of not too light, but not too hard. With lighter woods, paddles tend to feel snappy and stingy instead of thuddy. The thickness and design of the Femme Patale, together with the Black Walnut density provide just enough heft to drop a swat that’s painful but not painfilled.
Don’t forget to rub that one out.

Hands Down
The Femme Patale is designed for smaller hands. Overall it’s 10% smaller than our Ruler design, making it the perfect fit for daintier digits. You wouldn’t think 10% would make a difference but IT DOES; a more comfortable handle won’t wear out your grip before you have a chance to wear out that squirming bottom. A better grip = better control.
In Control
It can happen with denser woods; you don’t realize just how much damage that swing is doing. Gravity does most of the work, so an intense strike takes very little effort. The Femme Patale in Black Walnut requires a lot more flex before reaching the same level of intensity as some of the other woods like Jatoba, Hickory, and Padauk. So you start with a warm-up that’s not going to wear everyone out in the process.
